The grossly detectable chorioangioma is rather rare case in Korea and the case of this variety had not previously reported in Korean literature. The first case is 23-year-old woman (gravida 2, para 0, in 33 weeks gestation), who had premature delivery with oligoamnios and consequent fetal death. The autopsy of the fetus demonstrated no abnormality except slight cardiomegaly. Physical examination of the gravid woman revealed moderate anemia and slight edema just before the delivery. The placenta had 13 of grossly detectable globular tumors up to pigeon’s egg size in fetal surface and inside of huge edematous placenta, weighed 2.4 kg. totally. The second case is 25-year-old gravid woman (gravida 0, in 40 weeks gestation), who had an adult fist sized, single, necrotic tumor mass in the margin of placenta. She delivered a full-term baby with normal post-partum course except slightly increased hemorrhage during delivery and lochia for a month after delivery. The incidence, nomenclature, pathologic findings, nature and origin, associated placental cleanses, maternal factor, clinical side effects during pregnancy, and effects on the fetus and neonate is reviewed and discussed.
